Using medicinal cannabis for treatment of illness.

The use of medicinal cannabis and medicinal cannabinoid oils (often called CBD) is being used all over the world for the treatment of a wide variety of conditions and illnesses. Australia has one of the most highly-regulated systems for access to a medicinal cannabis. This means, to gain access to a prescription of medicinal cannabis, an application must be submitted to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) as well as state or territory department of Health (WA Health).  Only when permission is granted by both of these health bodies (Federal and State) can a prescription of medicinal cannabis be written for a patient.

Follow this link to find out more about the process through the TGA

The most important part of this process is that you have a condition for which research exists to support a trial of medicinal cannabis. that is approved by the TGA, and have tried other treatments with little or no success. In addition to this every doctor must consult with each patient to ensure that the treatment will be suitable with your medical history.

In addition, the drowsiness or clouded thinking which may result from medicinal cannabis use will make it dangerous for you to drive or operate machinery for several hours after taking your dose. You must agree to wait at least 8 hours after taking medicinal cannabis orally and to not drive or operate machinery if you feel impaired.
